James offers one to one gundog training in the heart of the Kent countryside
James began training gundogs in 2007 after watching a gundog demonstration at a local game fair.
Since then, having always had a love for dogs and in particular gundogs as well as shooting, James has trained a variety of dogs including retriever, spaniel and terrier breeds to become well established working dogs.
In 2010, James began assisting friends with training their dogs and in 2011 formed Priory Gundogs where he now offers one to one gundog training in the heart of the Kent countryside.
James believes that gundog training always starts with a foundation of obedience, the basics of which should be developed from the moment the puppy arrives home. However, this being such a crucial time in a dogs life, the new owner should seek advice if they are unsure of how to begin developing obedience. This obedience then forms the fundamentals of all training from then on, providing the dog with the best possible start to its working life. James is able to assist with training dog of all ages and abilities including helping the new owner with their puppy.
Set in over 1000 acres on a beautiful Kentish estate, James can offer training for all types of dogs and can also provide gundog training over all varieties of ground a working dog is expected to work over.
James’ training style is based entirely around positive reinforcement and always ensuring the dog has every chance of succeeding in any task set of it. He believes that the most important part of gundog training is developing and enhancing the lifelong bond which is created by owning and training a working gundog.
