With Cotswold Pet Services Keith's aim is to offer high standard dog training tailored to the individual owner and set in real life environments
Keith has worked with dogs for over 15 years, both as trainer and behaviourist. Owning a variety of breeds including Jack Russells, Dalmations, Golden Retrievers and Spaniels Keith has a wide range of experience with different breeds.
Starting Cotswold Pet Services in 2009 Keith's aim was to offer a high standard in dog training with training tailored to the individual owner and set in real life environments.
Over the years Keith has responded to customer demand and now offers specialist training in recall and livestock chasing in addition to standard training courses for puppies through to adult. The livestock chasing work made an appearance on BBC Countryfile quite recently.
Keith believes in a balanced approach to training combining positive reward based training but with corrections where necessary. Softly spoken training is the norm for Keith as dogs have perfectly good hearing and respond better to being "shown" what is expected of them. Training also incorporates the use of the often overlooked dog whistle and Keith has some innovative ways of teaching this to owner and dog.
Training lessons are lively and informative and sometimes quite energetic for dog and owner. Keith's other areas of expertise are dog behaviour, dealing with common problems such as aggression. He has a particular interest in the link between diet and behaviour and also linking behaviour at home with problems outside such as poor recall.
Keith likes to treat each dog and owner as an individual and tailors his advice and training to suit. Residing in the Cotswolds Keith has a wife, two children and dogs Skye and Pippin. Lately Keith has found himself helping owners of rescue dogs many from different countries including Bosnia, Cyprus and Saudia Arabia.
His company Cotswold Pet Services is also behind the campaign to raise awareness of the problem of livestock chasing and more recently horse chasing, the web site for this is www.dogsonlead.com Keith wrote a short book entitled "Recall for Beginners" with tips on good recall.
