Dave is a canine behaviourist and trainer who has worked for over twenty years with dogs and is the owner of Moody Mutts Dog Training and Behaviour. As well running his own canine consultancy company, he runs North Wales Pack and Socialisation Walks every week in two locations, Talacre beach and Alyn waters near Wrexham. These walks are attended by between 20 to 45 dogs and are especially helpful for dogs with socialisation issues.
Dave's has worked for many years with local rescue organisations and continues to assess and rehabilitate dogs for two rescues. Quite often Dave is required to help both dogs and owners get through the settling in process. Through his work with the rescues Dave has come across virtually every breed and behavioural issue. This has given him vast experience in understanding and then creating a training programme to suit each individual dog and owner and that fits into their lifestyle.
Dave’s belief is that exercise, patience and consistency are the key to helping dogs and owners bond and to live together. With this in mind he places a lot of emphasis on teaching how to correctly walk your dog. When he meets your dog he will nearly always work with his own dogs ( both rescued Rottweiler's ). Owners of more reactive dogs are often surprised how quickly the dogs will walk together.
Dave is a great believer in seeing is believing. So to achieve this end his work covers basic training through to every aspect of behavioural issue where he has dealt with problems such as dogs that are reactive towards both people and other dogs. This is done via the 1-2-1 sessions. Most sessions are held on his farm, although dependant on circumstances and behavioural issue, home visits can be arranged.
Dave’s philosophy is to help owners to reinforce the bond with their dog through understanding their dog’s behaviour and to develop a mutual respect.
