Kathryn Jones
Kathryn training methods taking into account the owner and dog throughout the training often using the owner as the reward building the bond between the pair
Kathryn runs behaviour consults and one to one training for all owners and breeds, as well as residential training in some instances. She enjoys seeing the transformation in dogs and owners, once they stop working against each other and start working as a team.
Kathryn also offers livestock proofing using her pet sheep, and dog friendly farm animals.
Kathryn is from a farming family in Lancashire, which has allowed her access to many animals and breeds of dogs, particularly working dogs. She not only has always had working farm dogs and pets, but has now branched out into owning and training Security Dogs and Specialist Scent Dogs.
She currently has two German Shepherds and Springer Spaniel, all re-homed to her as their current owners could no longer cope with their issues. Kathryn often takes on, rehabilitates and re-homes dogs people cannot cope with. The German Shepherds are both fully qualified Security Dogs, but are both calm and friendly enough off the job to be used in her behaviour consults for dog aggression.
Kathryn’s work with Security Dogs has given her an insight into the training of aggression in dogs that many trainers may not see, it has helped her reduce and control aggression in both working and pet dogs.
Kathryn uses effective training methods, taking into account the owner and dog throughout the training often using the owner as the reward building the bond between the pair as well.
Kathryn has a Foundation Degree in Applied Animal Behaviour, which led her onto the path of dog training and working dogs. Kathryn instructed at various clubs and ran a dog walking business while attending University. Kathryn attends as many seminars and training days as she can in the year to keep up with new techniques and research and is a NTIPDU certified Instructor/Trainer.
