Membership Application

To apply for Membership you should complete our application form below and pay the appropriate fee when requested to do so. The Membership Committee will then consider your application and advise you within 28 days whether you have been accepted.

Membership Types

The Guild has five levels of membership available for its members; GODT Certified Dog Trainer &  Behaviour Assessor, Master Trainer, Trainer, Assistant Trainer and Member Subscribers. Each has its own joining criteria and benefits.

GODT Certified Dog Trainer & Behaviour Assessor (£95 pa)

The Dog Training Behaviour Assessor will be using dog training techniques to ameliorate problem dog behaviour which needs to show rapid change. They will know when to refer problem behaviour to a canine Behaviourist for assessment and detailed time specific behaviour programme implementation. They will have completed academic study in dog behaviour and psychology with the GoDT course education department.

GoDT Master Dog Trainer (£75 pa)

In order to join the Guild as a Master Trainer you must have either:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience and to have trained not less than 100 dogs one to-one or 500 dogs in class or group situations.

OR

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience and to have completed courses CIDBT 4004,  CIDBT 4005 and CIDBT 4102 with The Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour & Training

GoDT Dog Trainer (£55 pa)

In order to join the Guild as a Trainer you must have at least 1 years training experience in any dog training discipline.

GoDT Assistant Dog Trainer (£35 pa)

A good way to enter the profession.

In order to join the Guild as an Assistant Trainer you must be working in dog training and/or dog behaviour study discipline and under the guidance of a professional trainer. This group would include associated professions, day care, dog boarding pet sitting veterinary workers, kennel workers, veterinary disciplines, groomer’s, rescue centre workers. This category member is not listed on the web site but do gain access to GoDT advice, education course guidance and the GoDT newsletter.

GoDT Member Subscribers (£10 pa)

This membership is for those who no longer practice but wish to keep abreast of the dog training world either through the newsletter or be kept informed of all activities that the GoDT work in. It is sometimes nice to keep in touch and use the wisdom gained over many decades to help others in the GoDT or on line assistance to others if desired. Subscribers members are not listed on the web site but do gain access to GoDT advice, education course guidance and the GoDT newsletter.

Please read all the questions before completing, some questions require longer answers than others so you might want to prepare the answers and then paste them into the form all in one go.

Aims of Guild of Dog Trainers

Dogs Owners – The Guild acknowledges the needs of dog owners and their aim of a well behaved pet dog. The Guild fully understands the expectation society places on dog owners and additionally the laws which affect them all.

 

Dog Trainers & Professionals – The Guild understands the Dog training industry and is able to advise and support its members in all relevant areas.
